Dr Nova Deighton-Smith

Nova is a body image researcher and health psychologist, with a specific interest in maternal and menopausal health outcomes. Her PhD focused on experiences of body image, physical activity and psychological wellbeing in pregnancy. She has contributed to publications on postpartum mental health, men’s appearance concerns, positive adjustment through breast cancer, and media representations of health and physical activity

Passionate about promoting appearance diversity in health and fitness spaces, her work is currently centred on the psychosocial, body image and wellbeing outcomes from strength and resistance training during perimenopause.
